During his training with a Teach First Danny was selected to give the closing speech to 1,500 fellow trainees for the whole UK at the national closing ceremony.

Danny joined the Teach First programme because of his relentless passion to improve the life chances of young people. For six consecutive summers, Danny worked as Resident Camp a director for underprivileged children from New York with the aim of building aspirations, resilience and core life skills. Programmes with schools looked at building skills within young people such as team work, resilience and perseverance.

In the UK Danny continued his link with the US and became a regional interviewer for applicants wanting to work with young people abroad. Furthermore, since returning from his role Danny aimed to set up and give similar opportunities for children in the UK. Danny went on to run a summer programme for young people in Sheffield in 2014 and then moved on to create a brand new programme for young people in the Leeds West area with the Bramley Cluster which has now run successfully for the past two years serving around 300 children.

Following a number of years as Assistant Principal for Inclusion at Leeds West Academy, overseeing the implementation of the Additional Needs Team, the ANT System, the creation of a Nurture provision and working as part of the SLT moving the academy from an RI inspection to a Good inspection in one inspection window. Through this work, Danny has been asked to speak at several conferences regarding this work and sharing with colleagues across the country.

In 2019, Danny earned the EdTech50 award for his work on inclusion systems which was awarded at the Houses of Parliament.

Danny joined Leeds East Academy as Vice Principal for Quality of Education in 2019 and subsequently, he has had a huge impact at the academy overseeing the Curriculum, Assessment and Teaching & Learning.

In more recent times, Danny took on the role of Acting Principal, in order to support Sarah Carrie, as she transitioned into her new position as Executive Principal of the White Rose Academies Trust. Danny is an ambassador for the Teach First programme, a Teaching Leaders Fellow, and in 2020, completed the National Professional Qualification in Headship (NPQH).

The next step in Danny’s exciting career came when he was announced as Leeds East Academy’s new Principal in June 2022, as the academy continues on its journey to outstanding.
