Leeds East Academy

Principal's Christmas Update

This term at Leeds East Academy has seen the school take a number of fantastic leaps forward; together in October we exceeded our attendance records and then beat them again in November.

Attendance is a huge part of success in Education and I am enormously grateful to staff, students and parents for all of their support in getting students into school every day. In addition to improvements in attendance, our Year 11 students are preparing themselves well for the challenges of their upcoming GCSEs and staff are reporting to me every day how students are applying themselves and working extremely hard to be successful in lessons.

Predictions from staff are suggesting that the extra lessons of English, Maths and Science that we are giving to students alongside our highly personalised interventions are going to produce the best results in the history of the school this year and I for one couldn’t be more proud of all of the hard work our staff and students are putting into achieving our goals.

In addition to attendance and achievement stories, this term has seen the relaunch of 7 Core Values. These values sit at the very heart of our school and it has been great to see students demonstrating these values day in, day out. Two of our most important values are Confidence and Resilience.

Students at Leeds East Academy have been confident and resilient this term in taking part and being successful in poetry competitions, sporting events, playing a leading role in assemblies, engaging in student leadership and of course taking part in school productions. It really has been a term where students have stepped forward and shown us all just how fantastic they are.

On behalf and myself and all colleagues at Leeds East Academy, I wish you a restful Christmas and a happy new year. In the meantime, I'd like to draw your attention to a short video demonstrating what has the changed at Leeds East Academy since September. We have enjoyed a transformative term and 2017 promises to be an inspirational and progressive year, as we work together as a school community on our journey to outstanding.

Best wishes,

Chris Stokes
