Resilience Award Winner
Mr Garner announces the second Resilience Award winner.
With a strap line like #NoExcuses it’s no wonder that Leeds East Academy are developing some of the most resilient students in the city.
Mr Garner, who oversees the Resilience Award at Leeds East Academy, said: “It gives me great pleasure to announce that Elise in Year 9 is the winner of this week’s award.
“Elise is a student who, for a number of reasons, has struggled to attend school and when she did was often late. Despite her own personal challenges, she has managed to increase her attendance by almost 20% in the last few weeks through sheer determination and a#NoExcuses attitude”.
Mrs Bell, who leads on Inclusion at Leeds East Academy, was one of the members of staff who nominated Elise for the Resilience Award. Discussing her nomination Mrs Bell said: “Elise has made a strong effort to be in every single day and her attendance has quickly improved.
“Elise has shown how much resilience she has by ensuring she is here every day in uniform and ready to learn. It is lovely to see her with her friends in the academy smiling, confident and enjoying school life”.
