Leeds East Academy

Meet Our Maths Challenge Team

LEA Mathematics students set to show great resilience and ambition at Regional Problem-Solving Competition.

Leeds East are very proud to announce this year’s UKMT Maths Challenge Team. Four dedicated students from year 8 and 9 have been given the opportunity to compete in the regional competition, for the title of strongest mathematics team in Leeds!

The team consists of Marc and Leah representing Year 9, and Nayab and Ashley representing Year 8. These students were carefully selected for their skills and enthusiasm, after a number of students expressed their interest to compete.

The UKMT Maths Challenge Regional Final is an exciting annual opportunity for young mathematicians to compete and collaborate nationally.

Lawnswood School will be hosting the competition on Thursday 28th February, with the winners announced at the end of the day.

The winning team, along with a few select runners-up, will be invited to compete in the national final at a later date. Our team will start preparing their problem-solving skills early in the new year, in after-school sessions, so they have the best chance of success when they compete.

It is a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase how talented they are and we wish them all the very best in their problem solving endeavours in the new year!
