East Leeds MP visits the Academy

The East Leeds MP, Richard Burgon, visited Leeds East Academy for the first time on Friday 16th November.

Mr Burgon met with Andrew Whitaker, the Executive Principal of the White Rose Academies Trust, and Principal Sarah Carrie.

Both Mr Whitaker and Mrs Carrie shared their vision for East Leeds and their aspirations for the academy, bridging the gap with the community.

Mr Richard Burgon then met with the Leeds East Academy Student Parliament who asked him a series of questions about his role and his journey to becoming a member of parliament.

Richard stated how the questions they asked him were very calculated and he was impressed with their mature manner and attitude.

When leaving the academy Miss Manners informed Mr Burgon about the work that had taken place in the community and projects that are currently running, making reference to the notice board. Mr Burgon was impressed by this and stated how he would like to support the school further and had discussed this with Andrew Whitaker.

We were delighted to welcome Mr Richard Burgon into the academy and we look forward to working with him on future community and academy projects.
