Leeds East Academy believes that all students should be known, supported and celebrated as individuals. The structure and organisation of the Leeds East Academy fulfils this, enabling students to feel part of a learning community and to be individually known and supported. Each student belongs to a small ‘family unit’, with a personal tutor and linked mentor from the community or the world of business.
The Pastoral Leaders of Achievement work closely with personal tutors to ensure high standards of attainment, attendance and punctuality and positive attitudes to learning.
Flexible approaches to teaching and learning and the grouping of students are also be key features of the increasingly personalised experiences for students.
Staff also benefit from a learning community which enables the continuous development of teaching methodologies through sharing of resources, reflection on approaches and engagement in coaching/action research partnerships.
